Welcome to the St Helens Network official website.

A small team of enthusiastic and dedicated 18-19 year olds have been working hard recently to set up a local network in the district, and things are finally evolving with membership growing and more activities being planned.

You can find us at our regular social on the second Wednesday of every month (except June 2010) at Wetherspoons in St Helens for a drink from around 8pm. Our meetings are really informal, no uniform needed – just turn up to have a drink and a chat taking comfort in the fact that Friday isn’t too far away!

There are plenty of events planned or in the pipeline, including a short weekend lightweight hike and camp, go-karting, pub quizzes, laser quest, bike rides, watch live music… the list goes on! In addition, by popular request, we’re in the process of making arrangements to offer Duke of Edinburgh Gold (and therefore Queen Scout’s Award).

Flexibility is the name of the game – if you can only turn up to 2 or 3 events in the year – that’s not a problem. If you’re not into hikes or camps, but wouldn’t mind joining us for a drink at the social and do the less-energetic activities – that’s also fine by us!

For those who wish to be a leader, that isn’t a problem, there is no reason why you can’t – and the Scout Association actually encourage you to – do both! Network could be a great opportunity to let off some steam or perhaps remind yourself that you’re a big kid really and not just a big bad leader!
